Where I started
I was losing my sister and my relationship with her and did not know what to do. Last year my sister graduated from college and began a good job in a corporate office downtown. During the first winter, she slipped on a patch of ice outside the office and broke her ankle very badly. Because the pain was so bad after surgery, she was prescribed the prescription painkiller oxycodone. It did take away her pain, but she said it also made her feel very relaxed, almost euphoric. At first, she had to take the medication to get through the day because the pain was terrible, but as her ankle healed and the pain subsided, I found out she was actually taking more medication than before and was even getting several prescriptions from several doctors. She got to the point that she couldn't make it through the day without it...but every time I tried to confront her or get her help, she got angry at me and even said she hated me.
