My daughter has asthma and she is failing PE because she cannot run or do jumping jacks without getting winded. Shouldn't the school make some kind of exception for her?

I am a 2nd grade teacher and I have a student in my class who does not have many friends. When she breaks a rule, even an unofficial rule, the other kids always point it out. She does try to be friendly, but her attempts are often seen as babyish and awkward. How can I help this little girl fit into the class and be accepted by her peers?

“There are times when my child becomes so upset it can’t calm her down. It’s like she’s out of control with rage. She can stay this way for up to an hour or more. What am I supposed to do when she is like this?”

My daughter is dyslexic. She has to work very hard to keep up with the other kids in school. She says that she is stupid. Her self-concept suffers terribly. Her grades are above average but she must work so hard to keep them. Any suggestions?
