My 26-year-old daughter and her 2 sons (age 2 and 7) have recently had to move back home with my husband and I. She receives little to no financial support from the children's father and she works a job that pays $8 an hour. Currently she is staying home with the kids while I am at work and then she goes to work when I get home. Child care is expensive and with the rate she is paid at her job she cannot afford to send the children to daycare. This leaves me to care for the children from the time I get home until their bedtime. This is my daughter and I am here to help her out but I do not see an end to our current situation. My husband and I both work and since she is living with us our wages are considered in any assistance she applies for from the government causing the aid to be denied. My daughter cannot afford to move out making only $8 an hour and I am not going to turn my back on her. What can our family do to move towards getting my daughter back on her feet financially and living on her own?  

I am in a serious relationship with the guy of my dreams. The problem is everytime I feel like things are going really well my boyfriend seems to pull away. I don't know if he has a commitment problem or if it is something I am doing. I have tried to talk with him about this, but when I do he says nothing is wrong. I don't believe him because he is distant for a few days. Even my friends comment on his up and down behavior. I don't want to be too overly sensative, but I don't want to ignore a potential problem down the road. I really like this guy, but I am concerned about his hot and cold behavior. Do you think I am worrying too much about this or should I be concerned? 

My friend recently quit her job because new management came in and she didn't like the changes. Now that she's been in the job market for a while with no success, I think she regrets quitting while the management transition was still new. She's starting to not go out and questioning herself and her judgment. It's hard to know what to say when she really is not finding a new job. Any ideas? 

My father is career military, a hard man with a tremendous work ethic. He was stern, but took good care of us as a family. He always wanted me, his only son, to join the military. I never had any interest and now I am finding myself in a strange predicament. My wife of three years is a police officer and I have opted to stay at home with our newborn daughter. My father cannot believe that I let the woman in the house be a cop while I am a stay-at-home dad. He seems so disgusted with me and somehow I can't help feel ashamed, but I know what I am doing is not shameful. What can I do? 

My husband and I have been married about a year. I came to the marriage with three kids; he has one. At family holidays and events, his mother and sister invite him, his ex-wife and son but do not invite me and my kids. My husband goes because he wants his son to have a relationship with his family and their attitude is she's the mother of their grandchild/nephew and I'm not. I thought this situation would get better over time but so far I just feel rejected and frustrated. What should I do? 

I work with sales and I enjoy my job, but I it takes a lot out of me. I get frustated and worried that I am not creating results like I want to. What can I do to feel more confident with my day to day interactions? 

My dad is in his late 70s. After a recent heart stent, he became depressed and says he feels like he is drowning. He says he has never relied on anyone for anything and cannot cope with being "needy." He is not an invalid by any means, just shakier and less steady on his feet. He is a retired professional. In addition to spending time with him myself, what can I do to help him feel valuable and independent over the remainder of his life? 

The other day my daughter was on her Facebook account and I happened to catch a glimpse of her screen. Her friend had commented, “I am still a virgin because I have only had oral sex. “ I did not know what to say. I wasn’t sure if my daughter was talking about having sex or being a virgin. I did not say anything because I did not want her to know I looked at her computer. But now I am not sure if I should or how to talk with her about it or, if so, how to begin the conversation. Please help.
