What is the difference between a person with a learning disability and a slow learner?

My daughter is dyslexic. She has to work very hard to keep up with the other kids in school. She says that she is stupid. Her self-concept suffers terribly. Her grades are above average but she must work so hard to keep them. Any suggestions?
